We've been active in Portland, Oregon since 1988, gathering to share our personal knowledge of plants, soil, and garden design while getting to know other local lesbian gardeners socially.
Our gardening experience varies from novice to professional. Some members have a deck with pots, and others have acreage to plant. The club has about 50 member households with a mix of singles and couples from age 20 to 70+.
What We Do
Currently the club hosts four annual socials: the March Mad Hatter's Tea, the Vita Sackville-West Memorial Croquet Tournament, a fall harvest potluck, and a winter white-elephant gift exchange. In the spring and fall we hold plant swaps. These include a sharing of garden tools, art, books, and other items.
Our occasional events have included tours of members' gardens and public gardens, work parties, nursery visits, and classes in bonsai, pruning, and pressed flower art.
